Jyoti Jagtap, a singer and performer from Pune’s Kabir Kala Manch (KKM), has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court nearly five years after her arrest in the Elgaar Parishad–Koregaon Bhima case. KKM, listed by the government in 2014 as an alleged front for the banned CPI-Maoist, helped organise the Elgaar Parishad event on December 31, 2017. A day later, violence in Koregaon Bhima left one dead and several injured, leading to a case that later moved from Pune Police to the NIA. Investigators allege the Parishad received Maoist funding and contributed to the unrest. Jyoti is among 16 people arrested under IPC and UAPA provisions, along with fellow KKM artistes. Supporters say the arrests aimed to shield Hindutva leaders accused in a parallel case. KKM, formed after the 2002 riots, has long denied Maoist links, though earlier ATS cases and arrests keep its activities under scrutiny.
