Actor Ashish Kapoor shares first statement following rape allegations; “I have full faith in the legal system” | - The Times of India

Dekha Ek Khwaab actor Ashish Kapoor, who was granted bail by Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court after being arrested on alleged charges of rape, has shared his first reaction. He shared a long note on social media responding to the allegations. He was taken into custody after a woman filed a complaint against him, accusing him of sexually assaulting her.Ashish took to his Instagram handle and penned a long note. He also expressed his gratitude to the system for granting him bail. The post read, “Following the recent incident, I’m filled with a deep sense of relief & gratitude. This experience has been a powerful reminder of the strength of our democracy & the principles enshrined in our constitution. I have full faith in the legal system, and this outcome has only strengthened that belief.”The post further read, “The diligent work of everybody ensured that justice was served, and the truth was brought to light. This is a testament that truth will always prevail. I want to thank everyone who supported me during this tough time & express my profound appreciation for a system that protects the rights of every citizen.”According to reports, the actor had been placed in judicial custody following police interrogation. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Bhupinder Singh has now granted bail to Ashish Kapoor and shared his take on the matter. He said, “Thus, in view of the aforesaid observations and discussions, the facts and circumstances that have been brought to the notice of the court in view of the documents/CCTV footage, in particular that the accused is not required for the purpose of investigation any more, being a permanent resident of Delhi and having clean antecedents, I find merit in the bail application and the same is accordingly allowed.”Ashish Kapoor was arrested in Pune, Maharashtra, on September 2.
